I’m thankful to share a wonderful review of my novel, Outbound: Meta Mars! It’s always rewarding to hear that readers are enjoying the world I’ve worked to bring to life, especially when they appreciate the science, engineering, and imaginative possibilities at the heart of the story.
The reviewer described Meta Mars as “brilliant hard science fiction,” praising the way Mars feels like a place where people could realistically build a new civilization. That’s exactly the kind of experience I hope to create for readers: a future that stretches the imagination while remaining grounded in scientific possibilities.
I was especially pleased to see Bob, the agricultural robot, singled out as a favorite! Bob’s literal thinking and dry sense of humor make him a fun presence alongside the human characters, and it’s wonderful to know that he made such an impression.
The review also highlighted some of the novel’s engineering and space exploration concepts, including the Spindizzy, Isadora’s mapping of Phobos Minor for grappling robots, and the Hammerhead’s deployment of the Pavonis Space Ladder beneath a ballast moon. These ideas are part of what makes the Outbound universe so exciting to develop: technology isn’t just decoration but an integral part of how life and civilization evolve on Mars.
Outbound: Meta Mars is the second book in the Outbound series, following Islands in the Void.
